Discover the Magic of Zlatni Rat Beach: Croatia’s Golden Horn

Croatia

Zlatni Rat Beach, also known as Golden Horn Beach, is easily one of the most photographed beaches in the world and it’s not hard to see why.

When I first visited Croatia in 1999, I had no idea this stunning spot even existed.

Fast forward a few years, and Zlatni Rat Beach kept popping up in every “world’s best beaches” article and social media feed I came across.

From that moment, it was firmly added to my bucket list. So, when the opportunity came to bring my family to Croatia, there was no question, it had to be at the very top of our must-see list.

Located on the southern coast of Brač Island, Zlatni Rat Beach is truly one of a kind.

Its unique, triangular shape shifts with the tides, creating a natural wonder that beachgoers and nature enthusiasts can’t help but marvel at.

The crystal-clear waters and breathtaking scenery make it a perfect spot to unwind, whether you’re looking to relax on the shore or dive into water sports.

Now, one thing to know about Croatian beaches is that they are mostly pebble beaches, and Zlatni Rat is no exception.

If you’re planning a visit, I highly recommend bringing reef shoes or proper beach footwear.

Trust me, your feet will thank you—flip-flops, jandals, thongs, or whatever you call them just won’t cut it.

Luckily, you can easily find reef shoes for sale at kiosks along the promenade leading to the beach.

We visited in the middle of summer, so naturally, it was bustling with visitors.

That said, we still managed to find a cozy spot to lay down our beach towels, soak up the sun, and enjoy the crystal waters.

Despite the crowds, there’s something magical about Zlatni Rat Beach that makes every moment there feel like a slice of paradise.

Hi, I've been fortunate enough to have travelled for over 25 years. My parents gave me the travel bug when I was 10 years old by taking my sister and I to the USA and Mexico for two months.
