Jaz Beach: The Ultimate Guide to Montenegro’s Coastal Paradise

If you are looking for a sandy beach then look no further. After weeks of beaches covered in pebbles and rocks to relax on a sandy beach was awesome. 

Along Montenegro’s stunning Adriatic coast, Jaz Beach beckons visitors with its pristine waters and expansive shoreline.

Just 2.5 km west of Budva, this stretch of coastline offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and recreational opportunities.

Jaz Beach spans over 1.3 km, featuring two distinct areas: a main section measuring approximately 850 metres and a smaller, formerly nudist section of about 450 metres.

The beach’s crystal-clear waters and sandy shore create an inviting environment for swimming, sunbathing, and various water sports.

As you explore Jaz Beach, you’ll find a range of amenities to enhance your visit.

From food stalls and a small supermarket to water parks and inflatable games, there’s something for everyone.

The beach’s spacious layout allows for both sun-bed rentals and towel lounging, catering to different preferences.

With its mix of natural charm and modern conveniences, Jaz Beach stands out as a must-visit destination on Montenegro’s captivating coastline.

And for us it was the perfect day to relax and have plenty of family fun.

Where Is Jaz Beach

You’ll find Jaz Beach just 2.5 km west of Budva’s town centre, making it easily accessible for tourists. It’s situated in the Budva municipality, a popular region along Montenegro’s Adriatic coast.

The beach is conveniently located near other notable destinations:

• Budva: 2.5 km
• Tivat: 20 km
• Kotor: 22 km

Jaz Beach’s proximity to these towns allows you to explore the rich cultural heritage and nightlife of the Budva Riviera.

The nearby village of Lastva Grbaljska offers a glimpse into local life, whilst Trsteno Beach provides an alternative seaside experience just a short distance away.

Amenities and Facilities

Jaz Beach offers a range of amenities to enhance your beach experience.

You’ll find convenient facilities and services to meet your needs during your visit.

Bars and Restaurants

You’ll discover several food and drink options along Jaz Beach. Beach bars dot the shoreline, serving refreshing beverages and light snacks.

These establishments often feature outdoor seating areas where you can relax with a cool drink whilst enjoying sea views.

For more substantial meals, there are restaurants offering local and international cuisine.

Many of these eateries specialise in fresh seafood dishes, allowing you to savour the flavours of the Adriatic.

Some venues provide music and entertainment, particularly during the peak summer season.

This creates a lively atmosphere, especially in the evenings.

These amenities are typically arranged in neat rows along the beach. We hired a set of beach front sun loungers for the whole day for 20 euros.

It’s often more economical to rent a set for the entire day rather than by the hour.

Some areas of the beach remain free of loungers, allowing you to spread out your own towel if you prefer.

Remember to bring cash, as not all rental spots may accept card payments.

Jaz Beach boasts a large car park, making it easily accessible for those travelling by vehicle.

The car park is situated close to the beach, minimising the distance you’ll need to walk with your belongings.

During peak season, arriving early is advisable to secure a parking spot.

The car park is typically free of charge, offering a cost-effective option for beachgoers.

For those with mobility concerns, parts of the beach have paved pathways leading from the car park to the shoreline.

However, the beach itself is primarily sandy, which may present challenges for wheelchair users or those with limited mobility.

Public transport options are also available, with buses running from nearby towns to Jaz Beach during the summer months.

You’ll find Jaz Beach perfect for swimming and sunbathing.

The 2.5-kilometre stretch of coastline boasts pristine waters that are inviting for a refreshing dip.

The water temperature is pleasant during summer months, typically ranging from 22°C to 25°C.

For families, the shallow entry into the sea makes it safe for children to paddle and play.

The clear waters also offer excellent visibility for snorkelling near the shoreline, where you might spot small fish darting about.

Our boys loved swimming in these waters and spent a large part of the day splashing about and relaxing.

Remember to pack sun cream, as the Montenegrin sun can be quite strong.

Kayaking and Water Tours

Kayaking is a popular activity at Jaz Beach. You can rent kayaks from local vendors and explore the stunning coastline at your own pace.

It’s a brilliant way to discover hidden coves and admire the rugged cliffs from a unique perspective.

For more thrilling experiences, you can try:

The closest supermarket to Jaz Beach is Mega Market, located at the entrance to Jaz Beach. This convenient store offers a range of essentials for beachgoers.

Another option is Mix Markt, situated about 3 km northeast of Jaz Beach.

This supermarket provides a variety of products to enhance your beach experience.

Both supermarkets stock:

• Sun cream and beach accessories
• Snacks and refreshments
• Fresh fruits and sandwiches
• Bottled water and soft drinks

Remember to bring a cooler bag to keep your purchases fresh in the Montenegro sun.

It’s wise to shop before heading to the beach, as there are limited amenities directly on Jaz Beach itself.

By planning ahead and visiting one of these nearby supermarkets, you can ensure a comfortable and well-supplied day at Jaz Beach.

How to Get to Jaz Beach

Jaz Beach is located about 2.5 kilometres from Budva, Montenegro.

You have a couple of options for reaching this coastal spot.

Walking is a popular choice if you’re up for a scenic stroll. The journey takes around 30 minutes and offers lovely views of the coastline along the way.

For a quicker trip, consider taking a taxi. Taxis are readily available in Budva and can drop you directly at the beach.

This is a convenient option if you’re carrying beach gear or travelling with children.

Our Airbnb host recommended booking a taxi for the day, so we decided to go with VIP Taxi, and we’re so glad we did!

They provided excellent service throughout our trip.

The driver picked us up directly from our Airbnb and at the end of the day they returned to collect us, we were driven back to our accommodation, making the whole experience hassle-free.

VIP Taxi really made our transportation seamless and stress-free, allowing us to enjoy our day without worrying about logistics.

If you prefer more flexibility, hiring a car is an option. This allows you to explore other nearby attractions at your own pace.

Remember that during peak season, travel times may increase due to traffic.

Plan accordingly to make the most of your beach day.

Final Thoughts

Our day at Jaz Beach in Montenegro were nothing short of amazing.

The long, sandy shoreline and crystal-clear, refreshing waters made it the perfect spot to relax and unwind.

We loved spending time on the sun loungers, soaking up the sun while the kids played in the gentle waves.

The beach had a laid-back atmosphere, ideal for creating lasting family memories, whether it was splashing in the water, playing cards, backgammon, or simply enjoying the stunning coastal views.

With beachside cafés and the supermarket nearby for snacks and drinks, everything we needed was right at our fingertips.

Jaz Beach quickly became one of our favorite beach spot in Montenegro, and we’d return in a heartbeat!
